Planning Resource
Whether you created your wealth or inherited it, you must eventually face the question, "What next?" If you do nothing, a significant portion of your assets may eventually go to estate and generation-skipping transfer taxes. Most individuals would rather create long-term structures that will preserve their fortune for family, give it to charity or achieve some combination of the two. These are some of the ways we can support those efforts.
Estate Planning Review
Some of our clients have an assortment of estate planning documents and life insurance policies put in place at various stages of their lives. We can inventory all these documents and present you with a summary and diagram that you can review periodically to ensure that your plan still carries out your wishes. If it does not, we can work with you and your attorney to update it.
Facilitate Planning Across Generations
Increasingly, we work with more than one generation within a family, educating junior members about the trusts and inheritances that will ultimately benefit them, synchronizing their own estate plans with those of their parents and grandparents, and creating a succession plan for a family business or private foundation.
Bridge between Planning and Implementation
We favor a proactive approach to wealth management that identifies potential needs and problems early on and finds creative ways to address them. Clients value our ability to coordinate all the details of their plans efficiently, from opening accounts and moving funds to referring them to other professionals inside and outside Atlantic Trust.
