Richard O. Vandenberg, Jr.
Managing Director

Richard O. Vandenberg, Jr.Rick Vandenberg is a business development officer and head of Atlantic Trust's San Francisco office, with more than 30 years of investment management experience. His primary responsibilities include leading the client service team and the firm's business development efforts in the Pacific Northwest. Most recently, he was a managing director and business development officer for Bessemer Trust's San Francisco office, where his responsibilities included client account management and business development in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Prior to joining Bessemer in 2007, Rick was a senior vice president and wealth advisor for the Private Client Group at Merrill Lynch & Company, where he provided wealth advisory services to ultra-high net worth clients on the West Coast. Earlier, he spent more than 16 years with Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he worked with ultra-high net worth individuals and families. In 1981, he began his career at Salomon Brothers Inc. as a taxable fixed-income specialist covering institutional accounts in the Pacific Northwest. Rick received a Bachelor of Science in finance from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration in finance from the Anderson School of Management, University of California, Los Angeles. He is a member of the San Francisco Estate Planning Council.

Jack Caldwell, CFP®
Managing Director

Jack Caldwell, CFPJack Caldwell is a business development officer with Atlantic Trust’s San Francisco office, with more than 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2004, Jack was with Mellon Private Wealth Management, where he was responsible for client relationship management and new business development, focusing on affluent individuals, families and foundations. Prior to Mellon, Jack was with Scudder Investments and was responsible for institutional sales of defined contribution plans to mid-size companies on the West Coast. Formerly, he had been a manager for mid-sized clients in Scudder’s Boston office and was responsible for investment reviews, client satisfaction and planning. Prior to joining Scudder, Jack was a financial planner with American Express Financial Advisors. He earned a Bachelor of Science in management from the University of Southern New Hampshire and a Master of Business Administration in finance from Golden Gate University. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and is on the board of directors for the San Francisco Estate Planning Council.

 

Vicken Ekmekjian, CFA
Managing Director

Vicken Ekmekjian, CFAVicken Ekmekjian is a senior client relationship and portfolio manager with Atlantic Trust’s San Francisco office, with more than 12 years of industry experience. In this role, he is responsible for providing wealth counseling services to a broad base of high net worth private clients, foundations and endowments through the implementation of tailored wealth management and investment solutions. Vicken began his career at JP Morgan Private Bank as an investment officer responsible for managing portfolios for high net worth clients, including asset allocation and diversification through disciplined tax-sensitive strategies. He also served as a graduate school intern at Morgan Stanley, where he was responsible for a wide range of wealth management assignments. Vicken earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration with honors from the University of San Francisco and a Master of Business Administration from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management. Vicken is currently a director of the KZV Armenian School Endowment Fund and a member of its finance committee. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the San Francisco Security Analysts Society.

 

Jennifer Man, CFA
Managing Director

Jennifer Man, CFAJennifer Man is a portfolio manager with Atlantic Trust, where she is responsible for providing investment counseling services to a broad base of high net worth clients through the implementation of tailored investment solutions. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust in 2000, Jennifer spent several years in the investment management arena with leading Canadian investment firms Manulife Financial and Talvest Fund Management, a subsidiary of TAL Global Asset Management. She earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, Canada. Additionally, Jennifer is a member of the CFA Institute, a member of the San Francisco Security Analyst Society and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

 

Gail Baty
Senior Vice President

Gail BatyGail Baty is an administrative office manager with Atlantic Trust’s San Francisco office, with more than 29 years of industry experience. In this role, her primary focus is client service, ensuring a seamless interface between the firm and its clients. Her work has always been focused on high net worth clients. Prior to joining the firm, Gail began working with Kingsley Jennison McNulty and Morse in 1983, in California. About 25 years later, that company became part of Atlantic Trust. Gail studied accounting and finance in the New York community college system and earned certificates in portfolio management, fixed income securities and fundamentals of the securities industry from the New York Institute of Finance. Outside of work, Gail enjoys biking in the Oakland Hills, cooking and giving back to her community.

 

Chris D. Roman, CIC
Senior Vice President

Chris D. Roman, CICChris Roman is a senior relationship manager and portfolio manager with more than 43 years of investment management experience in equities and fixed income securities. Chris joined Atlantic Trust in 1996 from Eaton Vance Management, where he served as a vice president and senior portfolio manager. In this role, he was responsible for managing portfolios for individuals and institutions. He was also actively involved in the firm’s investment policy and asset allocation process. Previously, Chris served as a fund manager with Wells Fargo Bank, where he managed the bank's commingled equity investment funds and key corporate pension accounts. Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California (Berkeley) and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Santa Clara. He is currently a member of the CFA Institute, a member of the Investment Adviser Association and holds the Chartered Investment Counselor designation. Additionally, Chris serves as chairman of the finance committee of St. Agnes Parish in San Francisco.

 

Daniel Skolochenko
Vice President

Daniel SkolochenkoDan Skolochenko is an investment manager and fixed income trader in the Atlantic Trust San Francisco office, with more than 15 years of industry experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2005, Dan held fixed income investment positions at The Boston Company and MFS Investment Management. He earned a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in economics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Science with a concentration in finance from Boston College.

 

Tracie Nguyen
Associate Vice President

Tracie NguyenTracie Nguyen is a business development coordinator in the San Francisco office, with more than 11 years of industry experience. In this role, Tracie works closely with senior relationship managers on business development, including organizing local events and sponsorships. She also provides oversight on duties related to high net worth client portfolios, including administration, reporting and analysis. Tracie earned a Bachelor of Science in finance and international business from San Francisco State University. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance from Golden Gate University and working toward earning the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designation.

 

Nicole M. DeKelaita
Senior Associate

Nicole M. DeKelaitaNicole DeKelaita is a senior client analyst with Atlantic Trust’s San Francisco office. In this role, Nicole works closely with senior relationship and portfolio managers to conduct client reviews and coordinate the production of client meeting books and presentation materials. She is committed to providing exceptional client service and helping grow Atlantic Trust's business. Prior to joining the firm in 2008 as an associate analysts, Nicole worked with UBS as an asset management intern and with Parkside Lending LLC as a mortgage banking intern. Nicole graduated from the University of California, Davis. She has completed the CFA Level 1 exam and is working toward earning the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

 

Sylvia Hansen
Senior Associate

Sylvia HansenSylvia Hansen is a senior client service associate in the San Francisco office, with more than 30 years of industry experience. In this role, Sylvia works closely with senior relationship managers to provide comprehensive client service and detailed investment analysis for high net worth client portfolios. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust in 1983, she worked in accounting and invoicing at Marubeni American Corporation. She earned a degree in design from Pacific Institute of San Francisco.
