Managing Director

S. Mark PowellMark Powell is a senior relationship manager and head of Atlantic Trust's Austin office, where he has been instrumental in building the firm’s strong presence in Texas. In addition to his regional development responsibilities, Mark works to provide clients with the pooled expertise of our dedicated interdisciplinary team of advisors. He has more than 28 years of experience in economic analysis and the securities markets, with specific expertise in fixed income portfolio management. Mark serves on the firm's Asset Allocation Committee. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust in 2002, Mark was most recently a managing director with Morgan Keegan & Company. In this role, he led Morgan's asset management efforts in Texas, including the acquisition of Hester Capital Management in 1997. Earlier in his career, Mark developed investment policy and strategy for clients of Capitol Securities, a regional institutional fixed income firm headquartered in Austin. As a partner at Capitol, he was instrumental in leading the firm's expansion into new products, services and markets, which ultimately led to its acquisition by Morgan Keegan in 1993. Mark's mentor was his father, Boone Powell, Jr., retired CEO of Baylor Health Care System in Dallas. Mark is also actively involved with numerous charitable and civic activities including the Dell Children's Medical Center Foundation, where he is a trustee and chairman of the Investment Committee; the First Tee of Greater Austin, where he is a board member; the Knights of the Symphony, where he is Chancellor of the Exchequer; the American Heart Association, where he serves on the Heart Ball Executive Committee; and, Young Life, where he is member of the Greater Austin Executive Committee. Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1981 from Baylor University.

Mark E. Frazier, CFA
Vice President

Mark E. FrazierMark Frazier is a relationship manager in Atlantic Trust’s Austin office, with more than 12 years of investment industry experience. In this role, he works directly with clients and their related entities to develop and implement customized investment and wealth management strategies. His responsibilities include helping clients integrate their asset allocation and investment strategies with their tax, estate and charitable giving strategies. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust, Mark was a senior equity research associate with Brandes Investment Partners, an independent investment management firm headquartered in San Diego. Prior to his time in research, he served in institutional portfolio management at Brandes, where he implemented investment strategy for public and corporate pension plans, foundations and endowments, and other institutional clients. Mark began his career in private client services at Brandes, working with individual private clients and their financial advisors. Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration with a concentration in finance from Washington State University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Austin and the CFA Institute. Mark is also an active member of Friends of the House, an organization that supports Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin and Central Texas.

 

LaVern Z. Peña
Associate Vice President

LaVern Z. PeñaLaVern Peña is a client service manager in Atlantic Trust’s Austin office, with more than 12 years of industry experience. In this role, she is responsible for administering personal trusts and investment management accounts. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust in 2004, she was an assistant vice president at Wells Fargo Private Client Services and held positions as a trust officer and new accounts trust team manager. LaVern began her career in financial management in 1996, when she joined the team at Frost Financial Management. She is actively involved in her community, serving as a volunteer at the YMCA of Austin, the committee chairperson at Santa Cruz Catholic School and a former board member of Teatro Humanidad. LaVern earned a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in business administration and management cum laude from St. Edward's University in Austin, TX.

 

Amie Hershberger
Senior Associate

Amie HershbergerAmie Hershberger is a client service manager in Atlantic Trust's Austin office. In this role, she works closely with relationship managers to provide comprehensive client service, including the opening of personal accounts and trusts, ongoing account administration and fiduciary oversight of accounts. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust in 2005, she worked as an executive assistant to the director of government affairs at Constellation NewEnergy. Amie earned a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in government from the University of Texas at Austin and certificate in elementary education.

 

Siddharth Raghuraman
Associate

Siddharth RaghuramanSid Raghuraman is a client analyst in Atlantic Trust’s Austin office. In this role, he works closely with senior professionals to provide high-quality service to clients. His responsibilities include thorough asset allocation analysis, modeling and compiling quarterly performance data, as well as management of client reporting books and presentation materials. Sid is a member of the Young Men’s Business League of Austin. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust in 2009, Sid earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and political science from the University of Texas in Austin. He is currently earning his Certified Financial Analyst designation and is a CFA Level II candidate.
