Michael S. Battey
Managing Director
Michael Battey is a Senior Relationship Manager and Head of the Atlantic Trust San Francisco office. In this role, he is responsible for managing a team of eight investment and marketing professionals and their support staff. During his 25 years of investment management experience, Michael has overseen a broad range of client portfolios including pension and profit sharing plans, endowment funds, charitable and religious organizations, individual, trust, and other taxable investment portfolios.  Previously, Michael opened and was Head of the San Francisco office for DLJ Asset Management Group and spent nearly ten years in various senior leadership positions at Bessemer Trust, culminating in opening and running Bessemer’s San Francisco office and overseeing its Los Angeles office.  Prior to that, Michael was an executive recruiter with Russell Reynolds Associates focusing on asset management and private equity searches and a credit analyst and lending officer at Bankers Trust Company and the Chemical Bank focusing on the energy, financial institution and utility sectors.  He holds a BA from Williams College and is a graduate of the National Trust School at Northwestern University.  Additionally, he is a member of the Executive Committee and Investment Committee Chairman at the St. Francis Foundation in San Francisco, a member of the Ross School District Financial Advisory Committee and an active alumni fundraiser for Deerfield Academy.

Jack Caldwell, CFP®
Senior Vice President
Jack Caldwell joined Atlantic Trust in 2004 as a director of business development and is an Invesco director. Jack has 15 years of experience working in wealth management. Prior to joining the firm, Jack was at Mellon Private Wealth Management, where he was responsible for client relationship management and new business development, focusing on affluent individuals, families, and foundations. Prior to Mellon, Jack spent over nine years with Scudder Investments. At Scudder, Jack was responsible for new business of defined contribution plans to mid-size companies on the West Coast. Previously, he was a client relationship manager in Scudder’s Boston office for mid-size clients, where he was responsible for investment reviews, client satisfaction, and planning. Prior to joining Scudder, Jack was a financial planner with American Express Financial Advisors. He earned a Bachelor of Science in management from University of Southern New Hampshire (formally New Hampshire College) and a Master of Business Administration in finance from Golden Gate University. He is a CFP™ professional and a member of the FPA (Financial Planning Association) and the San Francisco Estate Planning Council.

Robert T. Devlin
Senior Vice President
Prior to joining Atlantic Trust, Bob spent 20 with Van Strum & Towne Investment Counsel as portfolio manager, director of research, and, during his last three years with the firm, president. A ten-year association with Dean Witter & Co. as portfolio manager, research analyst (J.Barth), manager of the portfolio department and as manager of research and portfolio services in the marketing department, provided Bob with a broad training and discipline in the field of investments. For his initial exposure to the world of finance, Bob completed the Special A Training program at Wells Fargo Bank, preparing him for branch management and commercial loan administration, where he was employed for three years. His education spanned a number of years, interrupted by his service in the U.S. Air Force. He attended Sacramento City College, followed by a double major in history and architecture at the University of Arizona. While attending the University of California Berkeley Extension, he completed his studies for the Certificate in Real Estate. Bob brings forward 40 years of experience in portfolio management skills through the many environments that have occurred in the marketplace.

Stephen R. Dohrmann
Senior Vice President
Stephen Dohrmann is a senior vice president and portfolio manager with Atlantic Trust. He is a member of the Asset Allocation Committee for the firm and is an Invesco director. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust, Stephen served as research director and portfolio manager with KJMM Investment Management, a firm he helped found in 1977. Previously, he served as a technology analyst with Hambrecht & Quist. Stephen currently serves on the board of trustees of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University.

Vicken G. Ekmekjian, CFA
Senior Vice President
Vicken Ekmekjian joined Atlantic Trust in 2005 as a Portfolio Manager. He is responsible for providing wealth counseling services to a broad base of high net worth private clients, foundations and endowments through the implementation of tailored wealth management and investment solutions. Vicken started his career at JP Morgan Private Bank as an Investment Officer responsible for managing portfolios for high net worth clients, including asset allocation and diversification through disciplined tax-sensitive strategies. He earned a BS in Business Administration with honors from the University of San Francisco and a Masters of Business Administration from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management. Vicken also served as a graduate school intern at Morgan Stanley where he was responsible for a wide range of wealth management assignments. Vicken is currently a director of the KZV Armenian School Endowment Fund and also a member of its Finance Committee. Additionally, Vicken is a member of the CFA Institute (formerly AIMR), a member of the San Francisco Security Analyst Society, and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst Designation.

Charles N. Jones, Jr.
Senior Vice President
Chuck Jones serves as a senior vice president/technology analyst responsible for analyzing hardware, software, and Internet technology companies. He also serves as an Invesco director. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust, Chuck served as an analyst at Salomon Smith Barney, where he was responsible for researching the Internet Security and Server & Enterprise hardware segments. Additionally, he authored several leading industry reports on internet security. Previously, Chuck spent 16 years at IBM in various capacities. He earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Stanford University and a Diploma in economics from the University of Sussex, England.

Jennifer Man, CFA
Senior Vice President
Jennifer Man is a portfolio manager with Atlantic Trust, where she is responsible for providing investment counseling services to a broad base of high-net-worth private clients through the implementation of tailored investment solutions. She also serves as an Invesco director. Prior to joining Atlantic Trust, Jennifer spent several years in the investment management arena with leading Canadian Investment firms, Manulife Financial, and Talvest Fund Management, a subsidiary of TAL Global Asset Management. She earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, Canada. Additionally, Jennifer is a member of the CFA® Institute, a member of the San Francisco Security Analyst Society, and holds the CFA® designation.

James R. Morse, CFA
Senior Vice President
James Morse is a senior vice president and portfolio manager with Atlantic Trust. His career in the investment business began in 1953 as a research analyst for the Wells Fargo Bank Trust Department. In 1956, he joined White, Weld & Co. in San Francisco as office manager and investment broker. In 1965, he moved to the headquarters in New York and managed the firm’s investment research department of 22 analysts before becoming responsible for the supervision of six international investment offices for four years and finally managing the investment division. In 1973, he joined American Express Asset Management Co. as president, and in 1975, became president of the Bank of America Investment Management Company. In 1977, he helped start Kingsley, Jennison, McNulty, & Morse, which eventually merged with Stein Roe & Farnham, one of Atlantic Trust’s legacy firms.

Chris D. Roman, CIC
Senior Vice President
Chris Roman is a senior vice president and portfolio manager with extensive investment management experience in equities and fixed income securities. Chris joined Atlantic Trust from Eaton Vance Management, where he served as a vice president and senior portfolio manager. In this role, he was responsible for managing portfolios for individuals and institutions. He was also actively involved in the firms investment policy and asset allocation process. Previously, Chris served as a fund manager with Wells Fargo Bank, where he managed the bank’s commingled equity investment funds and key corporate pension accounts. Chris is currently a member of the CFA® Institute and the Investment Adviser Association. He holds the Chartered Investment Counselor designation. Additionally, he serves as chairman of the finance committee of St. Agnes Parish in San Francisco. Chris earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California (Berkeley) and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Santa Clara.
